Registration Form

Who can participate on a team?

Teams will consist of current employees and retired employees of worksites in Sault Ste. Marie.
This means no children, family members, or mentors. Long standing volunteers of your organization may wish to participate. Please have your Team Lead contact the Co-Chairs, and the request will be reviewed by the Executive Committee.

Number of Performers per Team

Minimum is 12 performers, maximum is 25 performers.

Combining Worksites

Worksites with less than 12 employees may join up with another worksite with less than 12 employees as long as the number of participants does not exceed 25.

Team Contacts

Each team will select a lead team contact and an alternate for communication with The Soo Sings for Kids Planning Committee. Team leads are welcome to attend the planning meetings, and will receive all the planning committee emails (notice of meetings, agendas, minutes etc).

Registration

  • Team registration opens September 1st, 2017 and ends December 1st, 2017.
  • In order to be registered, teams must submit the Registration Form and Registration Fee payment in full at the time of registration.

How much is the registration fee?

$30 per team member is due at the time of registration. This is a non-refundable fee. Kindly make cheques payable to The Soo Sings for Kids.

How does my workplace team sign up/register?

To register, email the event co-chairs and make arrangements to drop off the registration form and fee.

Can we add more members?

Yes. Teams may add new members to their team ( to a maximum of 25 participants) by submitting a revised team list and additional registration fee per member.

Team Rehearsals

  • It is up to each team to set their own rehearsal times.
  • Teams are also responsible for finding a rehearsal space.
  • NO extra practices at the Community Theatre Centre are permitted.

Professional Vocal and Dance Mentors

  • We have vocal and dance mentors who have generously come forward to assit the teams with their rehearsals for up to 16 hours per mentor.
  • Mentos will be assigned to workplace teams.
  • Workplaces can select their own mentors, or retain their mentors from the previous year.
  • The team mentors cannot be a part of the performance. In some situations a workplace may have an employee who has the skills to be a mentor, and will act as the team mentor. In this situation your mentor could be a part of your performance in a supportive vs primary role.

Where do we get our music from?

  • No live music/bands/instruments! This rule is to keep the technical/sound requirements manageable.
  • Teams, along with their mentors, will select one song track or a medley not to exceed 5 minutes in performance time.
  • Here is a website to begin your song search. Feel free to use other music sources. http://www.halleonard.com/search/search
  • Teams are responsible for any fees associated with the music track.
  • Each team must choose a different song. Once you have made your song selection, the team lead will notify the event co-chairs. If two teams choose the same song, the team that has notified the co-chairs first gets that song.
  • Each song track will be reviewed at the end of January to ensure no background vocals or pre-recorded vocals are present and to ensure it fits within the 5 minute time limit.

Costumes, Props, Makeup Etc.

  • Teams are responsible for securing these and any associated costs.
  • Props will be pre-approved by the Producer and Stage Manager. Please ensure that they can be easily moved on stage by the two stagehands and that they require minimal set up.

Performance Timing

  • Your entire performance cannot exceed five minutes in length.
  • All performances will be timed the night of the show to ensure your team has followed this rule
  • Performences that exceed five minuted will forfeit the right to place as one of the top three winners.
